I taught at a private school in Casablanca, called Mohammad AL-Fatih. I was assigned to teach second graders. My students averaged about 6 or 7 years of age. Teaching was a phenomenal experience. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done, I have no formal training in teaching, and attempting to gain the attention of 7 year old’s is nearly impossible. It was ultimately the most rewarding experience to feel like you’ve made an impact in these children’s lives and I am thankful that I managed to connect with their young minds and teach them English while having fun. For the next time I do the program, preparing is the most important thing to do. You need to go in with a game plan. There were some days that I went into the classroom with a full itinerary, and others in which I walked in with a general idea of what I hoped to accomplish that day. The lesson’s turned out the most beneficial to the students when I planned them out. I highly, highly recommend this program to anyone looking to broaden their horizon, because it is an incomparable experience.
